Our Veterinarians

Dr. Felton
Dr. Felton

Dr. Felton graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. After earning her degree, she and her husband, Chris, returned home to El Dorado County, where she had graduated from Oak Ridge High School. Before founding Companion Animal Hospital, Dr. Felton practiced in Fair Oaks, El Dorado Hills, and Folsom. She has a special interest in service dogs for law enforcement, search and rescue, therapy, assistance, and guide work. When she’s not at the clinic, Dr. Felton enjoys playing soccer and being a mom to her two daughters, Madison and Katie.

Dr. Rodda
Dr. Rodda

A graduate of the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1998, Dr. Rodda began her career in Jackson, California, before returning to her hometown of San Jose, where she practiced for over 16 years. Her professional passions include internal medicine, preventative care, and senior pet health. Now settled in the Sierra foothills with her husband and two children, Dr. Rodda enjoys the area’s rural charm, hiking, camping, dancing, and leading a Girl Scout troop with her sister. She’s thrilled to be part of the Companion Animal Hospital team and looks forward to meeting local pet families.

Barbara Otrubova
Dr. Otrubova

Dr. Otrubova graduated from Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 after completing her undergraduate studies at UC San Diego. She practiced in Mendocino County for seven years before moving to the Sierra Foothills in 2013. Her special interests include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and feline medicine — making her an invaluable member of our orthopedic veterinarians in Cameron Park, CA. Outside of work, Dr. Otrubova enjoys camping, kayaking, gardening, and spending time with her family, which includes two dogs, a cat, a guinea pig, five chickens, and a small herd of sheep.

Dr Tracy Stein
Dr. Stein

Dr. Stein’s love for animals began at just eight years old and has guided her life ever since. After earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Animal Science from UC Davis, she went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. She completed an equine internship at Loomis Basin Equine Medical Center and later owned her own equine ambulatory practice while also caring for small animals. Now focused on small animal medicine, Dr. Stein brings a wealth of experience and a calm, compassionate approach to her patients at Companion Animal Hospital.

Dr. Shannon Bamford
Dr. Bamford

Dr. Bamford earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Sydney before completing a rotating internship at the Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center. She has since devoted her career to small animal medicine, with special interests in dentistry and feline health. She is passionate about educating pet owners and providing thoughtful, individualized care. In her free time, Dr. Bamford enjoys traveling, hiking, and gardening, and she shares her home with her Border Collie, Chip.

Alisha has been with Companion Animal Hospital since its opening in 2009 and has worked in veterinary medicine since 2000. A licensed technician since 2010, she has a special passion for helping behavioral-challenged patients. When she’s not caring for animals, she enjoys the outdoors with her family — hiking, biking, or relaxing by the river.

Brooke - RVT Supervisor
Brooke - RVT Supervisor

Since joining Companion Animal Hospital in 2011, Brooke has excelled in surgical assistance and patient care. She earned her RVT license in 2013 and loves the hands-on aspect of her work. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys camping, gardening, and traveling with her husband, two children, and their beloved hound dogs.

Kim has been an RVT for over 30 years and a professional dog trainer for more than 35 years. A graduate of Western Career College, she is known for her exceptional ability to work with fearful dogs and perform detailed technical work to the best of her ability. Outside of work, Kim trains K9s on weekends — an activity she considers both her job and her passion.

Jossie Crow, RVT, has six years of experience in veterinary medicine and graduated from Carrington College. She takes pride in being a strong advocate for animal welfare and enjoys building meaningful connections with both pets and their families. In her free time, she loves riding horses, working with her mustang, hiking, and traveling.

Suzanne - Veterinary Assistant

Suzanne Redens has over 33 years of experience in veterinary care and joined Companion Animal Hospital after extensive on-the-job training. She is known for her compassion and her ability to comfort both pets and their families during difficult times. When she’s not at work, Suzanne enjoys gardening, bird watching, and jazzercise.

Zach - Veterinary Assistant
Zach - Veterinary Assistant

Zach, born and raised in Orangevale, CA, has a wonderful little family with his girlfriend, their baby Björn, and several geckos, including their favorite, Chunk Norris. Growing up, Zach always loved animals and was fascinated with veterinary medicine. He’s an avid Star Wars fan, reptile owner, fisherman, gamer, and card collector. He recently joined the CAH crew after coming from a pet emergency center. He thanks you for reading this and wants to add, and as the wise Jedi Master Yoda would say, “May the force be with you.”

Hannah Shadden graduated from El Dorado Trade School and has nearly a year of experience in veterinary medicine, backed by a lifetime of caring for animals. She prides herself on creating a calm, caring environment for every patient and providing comfort during visits. Outside of work, Hannah enjoys hiking, swimming, and spending time with her kids and dog on outdoor adventures.

Collier - Veterinary Assistant
Collier - Veterinary Assistant

Collier is newer to the veterinary field but has been working with animals her whole life. Collier grew up on a cattle ranch in Shingle Springs, where she grew up with Black Angus cattle, horses, dogs, and cats. She grew up showing cattle and raising guide dogs for Guide Dogs for the Blind. After graduating from college, she then went on to work for Guide Dogs in the Bay Area for 5 years, where she worked with behavioral career change dogs, potential breeder dogs, and managed a training kennel. She also worked in the field, helping manage guide dog puppies in training. When Collier married her husband, Bryan, she found herself back in El Dorado County, and her pets began going to Companion Animal Hospital. Collier’s furbabies include Career Change from Guide Dogs, yellow lab Penny, black cat Cosmo, and calico cat Lassen.

Lindsey joined us in July 2019 as a Kennel Assistant. After increasing her knowledge and valuable skills, she was recently promoted to Veterinary Assistant!

Alana is one of our dedicated Veterinary Assistants with a deep passion for animals and their well-being. She began her journey with us as a Kennel Assistant in October 2022 and quickly mastered the skills needed to advance into her current role. Alana is currently furthering her education to become a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), and we love watching her shine in this field!

Michelle is currently going to school to hopefully become a veterinary technician. She spends a lot of her extra time playing with her cats or working on her car.

Virginia, Kennel & Veterinary Assistant

In 2019, Virginia moved to El Dorado Hills from Texas and, soon after, met her husband. They now have a two-year-old daughter and a beloved 13-year-old cockapoo mix named Eleanor. Virginia joined CAH after earning her Veterinary Assistant certificate and is currently continuing her education with the goal of becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). She has a deep passion for reptiles and hopes to specialize in exotic animal care in the future.

Daniele - Kennel & Veterinary Assistant
Daniele - Kennel & Veterinary Assistant

Daniele joined the CAH Family in May 2021. She loves working with all the amazing animals that come through our hospital. She’s a wife and also a mom of two amazing daughters. She’s obsessed with Boston Terriers, especially her own sweet and spicy little girl, Harper Mae. Outside of work, Daniele has a very eclectic combination of hobbies, including reptile keeping, hydroponics, and soap making. Every day at CAH is an adventure, and it’s an honor to work with such an amazing group of people.

Maddie joined CAH in the fall of 2021 and instantly loved the rewarding yet challenging day-to-day of the veterinary field. She has 3 feline fur babies and a truly unique chihuahua/pug mix, Ellie, who greets her when she arrives home each day, and hopes to begin schooling to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician.

Candace - Office Manager
Candace - Hospital Manager

Candace has been working at Companion Animal Hospital since 2014 and in the veterinary field for over 10 years. She is a proud mother of one human child, Jack, and three fur children, Alice, Omar, and Sharon. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. She believes kindness, laughter, and passion are the keys to a happy life.

Victoria joined us in February 2019. As a full-time health care professional and puppy raiser, Victoria regularly helps out our front office staff!

Meg joined our front office staff in April of 2019. You will normally see her smiling and problem-solving!

Amanda - CSR & Pharmacy
Amanda - CSR

Amanda joined the CAH team in March of 2021 after having been a client since not long after the practice opened! She enjoys the busy atmosphere and seeing what each day will bring. Amanda has 2 cats, Ruby and Mean Kitty, and 2 dogs, Thorne (German Shepherd) and Crooks (French Bulldog), as well as a husband and 2 grown sons. When not working, she serves as a chauffeur for Thorne, who is a very busy Registered Therapy Dog. She can also be found watching or playing soccer or hiking in the Sierras.

Haleigh has been working in the veterinary field since 2021 and found her true passion in caring for animals. While she loves all creatures, she has a special fondness for cats and goats. Her background includes two years of volunteer service as a wildland firefighter and studying to become an EMT, experiences that helped Haleigh realize her heart lies in animal care. These paths have shaped her resilience, work ethic, and compassion — qualities she now brings to her work in veterinary medicine. Looking ahead, Haleigh is excited to continue her journey by becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT).
