Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Below, you’ll find helpful information about our services, policies, and what to expect when visiting our clinic. If you don’t see your question listed here, please reach out — our friendly team is always happy to help!
What types of pets do you see?
We provide veterinary care for dogs and cats, as well as pocket pets and lagomorphs. Our team is skilled in all areas of companion animal medicine — from preventive wellness exams and dental care to advanced diagnostics and surgery.
How often should my pet have a wellness exam?
We recommend bringing your pet in for a wellness exam at least once a year, or more often for senior pets or those with chronic health conditions. These checkups allow us to catch potential health issues early and keep your pet on track for a long, healthy life.
Do I need to make an appointment, or do you accept walk-ins?
Appointments are required for most visits to ensure every pet receives the time and attention they deserve. We do, however, make every effort to accommodate same-day or urgent care appointments when possible. Please call ahead so our team can best prepare for your pet’s needs.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
For your first visit, please bring any previous veterinary records, your pet’s vaccination history, and any current medications your pet is taking. You’ll also need to fill out our New Client Form prior to your appointment, which is available online through our website. As part of this form, you will review and confirm that you have read and understand our hospital policies.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards. Payment is due at the time of service. If you have pet insurance, we’ll help you with the necessary documentation for reimbursement. Check out our Payment Options page for more information.
Do you offer an online pharmacy?
Yes! Our online pet pharmacy allows you to order medications, preventatives, and prescription diets directly from the comfort of your home. You can also request pet medication refills through our website for convenient, reliable service.
Do you offer emergency or urgent care services?
We provide pet urgent care during regular business hours for issues that need prompt attention but are not life-threatening. If your pet experiences a serious or after-hours emergency, we’ll refer you to one of our trusted 24/7 emergency vet partners in Cameron Park, CA, or the surrounding area.
What vaccines does my pet need?
Our veterinarians customize pet vaccination schedules based on your pet’s species, age, and lifestyle. Core vaccines for dogs typically include rabies, distemper, parvovirus, and adenovirus, while cats commonly receive rabies, feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia. We’ll also recommend lifestyle vaccines as needed.
Why does my pet need dental care?
Routine dental cleanings are an essential part of your pet’s overall health. Dental disease can lead to pain, infection, and even organ damage if left untreated. Our pet dental clinic offers professional cleanings, digital dental X-rays, and oral surgery to help keep your pet’s smile healthy and pain-free.
Do you provide boarding services?
Yes! We offer dog and cat boarding in a safe, clean, and climate-controlled environment. Pets receive plenty of love, care, and attention from our staff.
To protect the health of every pet in our care, we require that all boarding guests be up-to-date on their vaccinations and flea/tick prevention. Additionally, pets must have had a recent annual wellness exam (within the last 12 months) to ensure they’re in good overall health before staying with us.
How do I request prescription refills or food orders?
Prescription refills and food orders can be requested through our online pharmacy or by calling the clinic directly. For most refills, please allow 24–48 hours for processing to ensure timely approval and accuracy.
Do you offer microchipping?
Absolutely. Microchipping is one of the safest and most effective ways to help reunite you with your pet if they ever get lost. The quick, painless procedure can be done during any appointment, and your pet’s information is permanently registered for easy identification.
How can I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule an appointment by calling our office or booking online through our PetDesk app. Our team will confirm your appointment and ensure you have everything you need before your visit.
What if my pet needs surgery?
Our experienced veterinarians perform a full range of soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries using modern anesthesia and monitoring equipment to ensure your pet’s comfort and safety. We’ll discuss the procedure, expected recovery, and aftercare instructions in detail before your pet’s surgery.
What is your policy on cancellations or missed appointments?
We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance so we can make that time available for another patient in need. Repeated no-shows may result in a cancellation fee.
How can I get an international health certificate for my pet?
We provide international health certificates for pets traveling abroad. You’ll need to complete our International Health Certificate Questionnaire Form before your appointment so our veterinarians can prepare the necessary documentation and meet travel regulations for your destination country.
